Oxytocin: Your Love Hormone

Oxytocin is the neurochemical that is released through deep connection. It has several functions for our well-being. It’s the mechanism that explains why love and affection positively affect health and it increases when you are caring for another. Appreciation, generous touch, gratitude, and emotional connections with others also raise oxytocin levels. It’s the reason for many of the health benefits from meditation, massage and acupuncture.

One of the most powerful effects of oxytocin is happening at birth, when mother and father bond with the child. What happens is that oxytocin surges causing rewiring of both parent’s brains so that they will fall in love in their little child  – a love that under ordinary circumstances will remain permanently.

Oxytocin Research

From research we can learn that oxytocin is creating health benefit, increase sexual receptivity and reduce negative emotions, such as stress. It also reduce our craving for sweets as well as other addictions. Oxytocin is a natural antidepressant and anti-anxiety hormone. It counteracts impotence and depression, increase immunity, and faster recovery. It’s clear that oxytocin strongly affect your mind and behavior. Since it creates feelings of calm and a sense of connection it actually shapes how you view the world.

Considering all these benefits, one might wonder why people don’t want to cultivate more oxytocin in to their life? A reason for that might be the unawareness of all these positive effect. As a researcher in the exploration and experience of my own orgasm through the practice of Orgasmic Meditation, I’ve learned how oxytocin is impacting my everyday life. Right now I’m writing a book about this experience. Make sure to stay in tune with the latest news. The easiest way is to join the tribe or ask for access to our Conscious Love group on Facebook.
